A new trailer for Kamen Rider Battride War: Genesis has surfaced recently, bringing with it the most pulse-pounding preview of the game yet. The trailer gives us a look at the playable Rider characters in action with a nice mix of story-related cut-scenes and in-game feature highlights. This is, without question, the most thrilling trailer yet for the game. Check out the trailer, as well as my take on the new content, below!
From the return of Hiroshi Fujioka as the voice of Takeshi Hongo/Kamen Rider #1 to his exclusive civilian-to-Rider transformation feature, Battride War Genesis continues to show fans love with its wealth of promised content. New features like the “Double Rider System” expand on the “Partner System” feature from Battride War II, allowing you to select an AI-based partner Rider who will fight alongside you throughout missions. Using the “Tag Voltage” gauge, your partner Rider can activate special skills that may affect game-play. When the gauge is maxed, the player’s attack power is increased and access is given to the franchise’s team-up staple “Double Rider Kick” finisher! The Rider Machines have also become more fleshed out in their utility with the “Attack Blast” mechanic, one that recreates the Riders blasting through mobs of monsters on their steely steeds of speed.
One thing I’d like to note is that the trailer does indeed feature Kamen Rider ZX as a Tag Partner to Super-1. While Riderman and Kamen Rider NEW Den-O are confirmed as Tag Partner-exclusive at the game’s website, the trailer could lead one to assume ZX will be treated in the same fashion. This does offer a glimmer of hope for anyone wanting to play as him, so only time will tell.
Beyond the new game-play features, there’s also an impressive amount of nostalgia-driven aspects to appreciate. Even more original cast members are returning to voice their respective characters, some which took me by surprise. The list of notable returns include:
–Ryoma Takeuchi (Shinnosuke Tomari/Kamen Rider Drive)
–Yu Inaba (Goh Shijima/Kamen Rider Mach)
–Ryota Murai (Yusuke Onodera/Kamen Rider Kuuga (Decade universe))
–Yuichi Nakamura (Kamen Rider Zeronos Altair Form/Zero Form)
–Hochu Ohtsuka (Deneb/Kamen Rider Zeronos Vega Form)
–Shigeki Hosokawa (Hibiki/Kamen Rider Hibiki)
–Jouji Shibue (Ibuki/Kamen Rider Ibuki)
–Kohei Murakami (Masato Kusaka/Kamen Rider Kaixa)
–Satoshi Matsuda (Ren Akiyama/Kamen Rider Knight)
–Tetsuo Kurata (Kotaro Minami/Kamen Rider BLACK/BLACK RX)
I’m amazed Hosokawa and Shibue were tapped to return to their beloved roles, considering the difficulties they expressed in association with Kamen Rider Hibiki’s latter-half production changes (long story short: production crew changed and established plot points got fudged). It’s incredibly impressive, nonetheless, to see a lot of work going into character representation. The prospect of hearing Tetsuo Kurata and Hiroshi Fujioka bark their heroic one-liners is getting even more exciting by the day.
Thankfully, February 25th is only two months away.
