Kamen Rider Battride War: Genesis’ official website has finally unveiled what many fans have been waiting for (despite being more-or-less confirmed many times prior): the game’s cast of playable characters! The Character hub of the page displays the list of represented Kamen Rider series. Each clickable logo loads a still image of selectable Riders from a given series.
As we know, the Showa-era Riders (1970s-late 1980s) are confirmed. Let’s take a look at their renders!
Most will notice that Kamen Riders Shin, ZX, ZO and J are not present among the list, due to the fact that they’re one-off Riders from TV specials and movies. That’s a shame, because a Rider like ZX seems like he would be perfect for a Musou-style game environment. Imagine Xu Shu from Dynasty Warriors, only MORE ninja-like and MORE explosions.
Of course, the Heisei-era Kamen Riders are also available. At first glance, they don’t look that much different from their PS3 renders. However, there is some improvement in the textures of the suits. They look a little cleaner, a little shinier.
Promotional stills they are, but damn it if it isn’t exciting seeing the Riders ready to return. Considering the breadth of the character pool this game can take from, there’s a considerable number of tertiary and extra Riders that aren’t in this list. Are they planning on releasing extra Riders as free DLC again? Or are they vying for the paid route? Players have been pretty lucky with receiving free DLC characters for the previous games. Let’s see if that sticks for the new iteration next year.
Kamen Rider Battride War: Genesis is set to release on Sony PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita consoles in 2016.
