‘Total Film” caught up with “X-Men: Days of Future Past” producer, Lauren Schuler Donner, who confirmed Channing Tatum as Gambit in the mutant’s solo leap into films!
Donner says “Well you know he’s a rogue, Channing, a rascal just like Remy Lebeau. So… and he can handle the action, we all know that.” She also goes on to explain that he’s a southerner, although not from New Orleans, but that he understands that world.
What do you guys think of the acting choice? In my opinion, Tatum has got some serious acting chops, proving himself a convincing role in action films, comedies, and even romances. Gambit, however, is a thoroughly loved comic character and fans will be looking at ANY reason to pick at his performance. Along with the accent, he’d need to get facial expressions, poses, movements, and anything else that are as much a part of the Gambit character as his mutant power. “Let’s see what happens.” is becoming a staple in comic book movie hero acting choices lately, ala Ben Affleck. -Crista
